I was so fortunate to host my best friend Katie in Cuernavaca last week. It was wonderful to be with a confidant and to share a little bit of my life on the other side of the border with someone from back home. We did a lot in 5 short days, and luckily Katie brought a camera so I could share the pictures with you! Here are just a few of the highlights.
Saturday, August 14: On our way to Tepoztlan! It's known as a town of magic and is an area with high energy and was historically a political center.

Me driving to Tepoz. It was fun, but TJ was more exillarating...

At the top of Tepoz, looking at the pyramid of Tepoztec.

The view of Tepoztlan from Tepoztec.

And after a straight up and straight down hike, we refresh with tepoznieve (the ice-cream that is more like gelato. Freshly made and delicious!)

Artwork. The mural at the entrance of the old church in Tepoz is covered in seeds, beans, and rice making an impressive mosaic.

Sunday, August 15: Arriving at Chapultepec Castle in Mexico City. It's a huge park with green areas, botanical gardens, 2-3 museums, a lake with pedal-boats, a zoo, amusement park. We wanted to see the Castle and boats. Then we went on to Avenida Reforma, the Zocalo and Bellas Artes. It was a long day, but a good one.

Posing outside of the Castle overlooking Mexico City.

In one of the gardens at Chapultepec Castle.

The smaller alter in the Catedral.

Another dream come true! I made it to the Catedral in the Zocalo of Mexico City!!

Bellas Artes: A theatre gifted to Mexico from France. It has some fantastic artwork inside...which we were not allowed to go see because it was on the upper floors.

Eating pozole in a market in DF...the Mariachis singing in Plaza Garibaldi outside.

Tuesday, August 17: A trip to Teotihuacan
Pyramid of the Sun
